The internet radio Day of Silence is here. This is part of the internet radio broadcasters’ protest against the proposed increase in royalty payments. The payment scale is absurd and ensures only big companies can afford to pay. It effectively silences the fans.
Unfortunately, as Digital Music News notes, AOL Radio, Clear Channel Radio, and Last.fm are not participating. Shame on them. I’m particularly sad to see Last.fm in that list. They’ve built their million dollar empire on nothing other than music fans. Shame on them.
