Following are my 2009 postseason predictions. Take it for what it’s worth.
In the AL, I don’t think the Yankees will have much trouble putting Minnesota away. The Yankees are very serious about winning their 27th World Series and the Twins barely made it into the postseason. Boston vs. Angels is the real unknown for me. The Angels are very good, but postseason Boston is as unpredictable as sweaty dynamite. Boston has been on a long, slow decline but I’m giving them the edge based on experience alone.
In the NL, the Phillies get the nod because they’re the returning champions. I actually didn’t expect to see Colorado get this far, so they could surprise me. I don’t think the Cardinals stand a chance against Torre’s Dodgers. They’re on a mission and are, imo, unstoppable at this point.
Here’s the breakdown:
- New York Yankees > Minnesota Twins
- Boston Red Sox > L.A. Angels
- Philadelphia Phillies > Colorado Rockies
- L.A. Dodgers > St. Louis Cardinals
That’ll leave us with the following:
- AL: Yankees vs. Red Sox
- NL: Dodgers vs. Phillies

p>If I’m right, this will be one of the greatest playoffs in recent memory. We’ll see.
