I normally purchase most books from Amazon. I’ve been dealing with them for years, so I can usually find exactly what I need quickly and efficiently. I’m currently preparing to go on a short vacation and, as is usual for me, I’ve found a book I want to read the day before I’m [...]

10th Anniversary of Free Speech on the Internet
Cory Doctorow, over at Boing Boing, notes that today is the 10th Anniversary of Supreme Court’s decision in ACLU v. Reno, the landmark case that established that speech online is protected under the First Amendment.
How fitting that today is also the Day of Silence for internet radio.
Day of Silence is Upon Us
The internet radio Day of Silence is here. This is part of the internet radio broadcasters’ protest against the proposed increase in royalty payments. The payment scale is absurd and ensures only big companies can afford to pay. It effectively silences the fans.

DRM-Free Dark Side of the Moon Sales Surge 350%

Passalong and 7digital
Digital Music News reports that Passalong and 7digital will be offering EMI’s DRM-free catalog. Passalong hasn’t yet revealed pricing specifics, however 7digital has indicated that some tracks would be selling for 50 pence ($.99).

The plan … opens a fresh distribution opportunity for unsigned and independent artists. The self-publishing initiative will allow any artist to upload their content into the BitTorrent distribution and ecommerce platform, a mechanism [...]
Safari 3.0
Thanks to Apple, the age old war between browsers is being kicked up a notch. But I don’t think Firefox has anything to worry about just yet, much less Internet Explorer. Firefox is and has been my browser of choice for years. And after giving Safari 3 (which, like 90% of OS [...]
Mailtags + iGTD
TUAW reports on a package deal between iGTD and Mailtags. That’s a tempting offer. I’ve been looking for a reason to jump into Mailtags and some GTD app, and iGTD is looking good. Still, after seeing Ethan Schoonover’s video on the upcoming OmniFocus, I’m torn. I think I’ll give it a [...]
