On Drupal and Frustrations

Andy Ihnatko is experiencing some frustations with Drupal:

Every tutorial and howto I’ve consulted goes straight from “Install the plugin” to “…Now that the plugin is installed, do this” without any consideration that perhaps Drupal is a rotten bastard that refuses to allow innocent, hardworking, right-thinking, blood-and-platelet-donating (pending completion of one-year suspension) Americans like me to [...]

The Computers of Our Lives

Alan Graham, over at MedHed, covers every computer he’s owned along with stories of each. Nicely done.

Tweako

It’s like Digg, but for tutorials.

The RIAA Lawsuit Decision Matrix – funny because it’s true.

Indispensible

I now consider MarsEdit so. When combined with TextMate, it’s poetry in motion.

USA – We’re #7!

Referencing this year’s World Economic Forum’s ‘Networked Readiness Index’, Broadband Reports notes:

While the United States ranked first last year, this year they’ve slipped to seventh place behind countries such as Singapore, Denmark and Finland. The report blames increased corporate interference in the judicial system, a lack of government leadership in IT and the low quality [...]

Just Ignore Him

Dvorak, the technophobe, is up to his self-proclaimed baiting tactics, looking to drive up hits so he can justify his employment. Why do people link to him? Ignore him and he’ll go away. Nobody worth his/her salt places any importance on his opinions, so stop treating him as though he’s relevant. [...]

Copy Issues with Vista

Wow.

On a Windows Vista-based computer, when you try to copy files from a server on a network, the copy process may stop responding (hang), and you may receive a message that resembles the following: Calculating Time Remaining0 minutes remaining This problem may occur only occasionally.

The solution? Call Microsoft support. Wow.

Journaler 2.5 Is Out

Love the new icon.

Goombah, Day 5

Yay for free time. Let’s see what Goombah has to offer us today. It looks like five songs from 3 artists, none of whom I’ve heard of.

Tight Bros From Way Back When – Hurricane (Amazon) The song starts with a heavy metal/hard rock feel, then quickly explodes into a punk mess. I can [...]

RIP, Larry ‘Bud’ Melman

Larry ‘Bud’ Melman (real name Calvert DeForest) has moved on.. I remember seeing him perform live around ‘85 or ‘86 at the Buddy Holly Theater. I was on the front row, right next to the cue card guy. He did the entire show reading the cue cards, sometimes complaining that he couldn’t [...]

The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Slayer

Jefito’s blog presents The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Slayer. Even if you don’t like the band, it’s a good read. People who are passionate about music are always interesting.

The Infernal ⏏ Modification

So, contrary to sound advise, I updated to OS X 10.4.9 within an hour of its release. It was a smooth upgrade and I haven’t noticed any instability or show stoppers.

I’m in the middle of filling in the holes on iTunes. I’ve ripped many of my CDs, but I still have a long [...]

Volume Logic Out of Beta

Volume Logic, the only plugin worth having, is out of beta. Beta users can purchase the plugin for a reduced price of $14.95.

As much as I love the plugin, I’m hesitant to purchase it. I originally bought it for $19.95 and, about 2 months later, an iTunes update made the plugin inoperable. [...]
